Bologna are demanding £8.5m from Arsenal for the transfer of defender WEB Calafiori, who spent 12 years at Roma before joining Bologna last summer. Calafiori, 20, has impressed in Serie A this season and is now a target for Arsenal. Bologna signed Calafiori from Basel for £4m last year, and they are now set to make a significant profit on the defender.
Calafiori joined Roma as an eight-year-old and spent 12 years at the club, making 18 first-team appearances. He joined Basel on a permanent transfer in August 2022 after spending the previous four years in Serie A with Roma. Calafiori's overall performances in the group stage and Italy's dismal display in the last 16 against Switzerland without him earned him a move to Bologna last summer.
Calafiori was a revelation in Serie A last season and Bologna signed him from Basel for a bargain price. Basel, who sold Calafiori last year for £4m, are demanding 50% of the transfer fee that Arsenal are due to pay. Just a year ago, Calafiori was playing for Basel in Switzerland before moving to Bologna.
